Canberra Olympic ensured that they would keep in touch with the league leaders as they reduce the gap to seven points with two games in hand as they cruised to a 9-0 win over Tuggeranong United at Melrose Synthetic in midweek.
Nikita Perry shone with a hat-trick, netting twice in the first-half, before completing her treble four minutes after the break. Olympic had three by the eleven minute mark, Tia Burridge opening the scoring and Sienna Ness adding the third. Sienna Dy-Mortimer was the other to score before the half.
After Perry had made it six, Olvia Gurney weighed in with a brace, and Georgia Choundary rounded off a good evening’s work with the final goal just the other side of the sixty-minutes mark.
Canberra Olympic secured the win that keeps them on the coattails of the league leaders as they defeated Gungahlin United 3-0 at O’Connor Enclosed.
Olympic struck the only goal of the opening forty-five minutes early on. Tia Burridge made great inroads down the left flank and squared for Sienna Ness in the centre who had time to control and slot home her seventh goal of the season.
Gunners lost Ella Hall to a serious knee injury during the opening half, but continued to push, ultimately caught out just before the hours as Olympic midfielder Isabella Hopkins burst into the area to fire home her first goal of the season.
Olympic rounded off a great performance by adding a third later on as Anna Bennett struck nine minutes from time.
The honours were even at Ainslie Oval as Majura FC and West Canberra Wanderers ended all-square at 2-2 in an entertaining match.
Two goals in quick succession saw the teams trade blows as Olive Huddy struck first for the home team, before Ella Hewson levelled the scores for the visiting team within seconds of the restart.
Bente Helgeby gave Wanderers the lead but Majura equalised through Elian Lum to take home a point.
Belconnen United were awarded a 3-0 victory over Tuggeranong United following a forfeit by their opponents.
