The top four in the Capital Premier League begin their Finals journey this weekend with the League Champions Queanbeyan City playing ANU FC for a shot at the Grand Final, whilst Belconnen United and Brindabella Blues meet to extend their season. OVERVIEW
Queanbeyan City has finished the 2024 as the CPL League Champions as they head into the finals! With a total of fourteen wins, five draws and only two losses, they will finish with a total of 47 competition points, two points higher than their runner up.
With a remarkable goal difference exceedingly plus-fifty, the Queanbeyan side have had some extremely impressive wins this year. A few honourable mentions include their 7-0 success against Wagga City Wanderers in Round Seven, then again just two weeks later they absolutely punished the West Canberra Wanderers with a win of 10-0. On the flip side, the team has only suffered two defeats all year with close score of 2-1 to the second placed ANU side early in the season followed by the weekend’s 3-1 reverse in the Riverina against Wagga.
Queanbeyan is also the home of the top scorer of the entire competition. With a total of 26 goals scored, Nico Abot has accounted for over 40% of goals scored by the team this year! A handy lethal weapon to have on their side as they approach some of their most crucial matches of the season. Also sitting in the top five is Queanbeyan’s Abderrahim Dellahi, accounting for a further ten of the team’s total goals.
As they head into the finals with ANU, Belconnen United and Brindabella Blues, no matter who they come up against, everyone should expect some tight competition. Queanbeyan has at least one draw and one win against each team, except for the Blues, who they have drawn with on every occasion they have come head-to-head.

OVERVIEW
ANU FC has finished the 2024 regular season as the CPL Runner-Up as they head into the finals! With a total of fourteen wins, three draws and four losses, they will finish with a total of 45 competition points, just one point higher than the team in third.
The ANU side also have some impressive wins up their sleeves, with at least a five-point winning margin on the three occasions they met with the West Canberra Wanderers, with their most impressive results being a 6-0 in round 11.
Top scorer, Jack Gibson with 18 total goals throughout the season, has struck over 30% of the team’s total goals this term and the speedy striker is also comfortably currently sitting in the number two position of the top scorers of the whole CPL competition. Another honourable mention from the ANU squad is Hassan Alnuwaysir, sitting at the number four spot of the overall competition, accounting for a further dozen goals.
Throwing them into the mix with Belconnen, Brindabella and Queanbeyan, they sit on an even playing field with the number the team in the number one spot, with one win each and a draw between them. ANU is still yet the get a win over the team in spot number three, with Belconnen getting two close wins over them, and one draw. With the team in the fourth spot, Brindabella, ANU are going in with the upper hand with two decent wins, 5-1 and 4-0, and only one close loss.

OVERVIEW
Belconnen United has finished the 2024 season in the third spot as they head into the finals! With a total of thirteen wins, five draws and three losses, they will finish with a total of 44 competition points, just one point less than the team in second, but five points higher than the team below them.
Belconnen United saw themselves secure some great wins throughout the year themselves too! Starting off strong early in the season with an 8-0 win over the West Canberra Wanderers in Round Three, as well as a 7-0 win over Canberra Juventus in Round Thirteen.
Belconnen’s top scorer, Dustin Wells, accounted for 13 of the teams total 64 goals scored throughout the year. Netting 20% of Belconnen’s goals also puts him in the number three spot for scorers in the overall competitions. Also sitting in the top five, is Jake Bishop with eleven goals.
They are going into the finals with two losses and a draw with Queanbeyan, two draws and a loss to Brindabella, but two wins and a draw with ANU. All matches when they came head-to-head with the other finals contenders were close results, so be ready to sit on the edge of your seat when Belconnen United take the field!
BRINDABELLA BLUES

OVERVIEW
The Brindabella Blues have finished the 2024 regular season comfortably in the fourth spot and are heading into the finals! With a total of eleven wins, six draws and four losses, they will finish with a total of 39 competition points, five points less than the team in third, but a whopping fourteen points higher than the Wagga City Wanderers who claimed the fifth spot.
Brindabella’s most impressive results of the season in Rounds Four and Eleven when they came face to face with the Canberra White Eagles. In Round Four, Brindabella claimed their first clean sheet with a 5-0. Their second clean sheet of the year came when they met with the Eagles once again in round eleven, but this time with an 8-0 win. In fact, the Eagles didn’t manage to score a single goal against Brindabella all year, with their final face off in Round Eighteen concluding with a score of 1-0.
Curtis Schaeffer claims the team’s top spot in the scoring departing, responsible for over 22% of their overall goals. Scoring ten of the teams 47 goals also lands him in the equal sixth spot with four others for the overall competition.
The Blues enter the finals competition on a fairly even playing field with those in the number one and three spots, with three draws to Queanbeyan and two draws and only one close loss against Belconnen. They’ll be looking to level out their win to loss ratio when it comes to ANU FC though! Although they had a close 2-1 win over the University side, they also suffered some pretty convincing defeats with a 5-1 loss in round 2, and a 4-0 loss in round 16.
