The opening weekend of the 2025 National Premier League Girls competition saw twelve fixtures contested across three age-groups as the stars of tomorrow began their campaign in NPL14, NPL15 and NPL17 amongst a plethora of goals, sensational performances and brilliant team displays.
NPL14
Ruby Selkirk helped herself to four goals on the opening day of the NPL14 Girls competition as her Majura FC team claimed all three points with a 7-1 win over visiting BellaMonaro. Aurora Talbot struck the other three, the goal-den pairing proving too hot to handle for the BellaMonaro defence, the visitors grabbing a second-half consolation from Ava Cook. A pair of penalties, one in each half despatched by Eliza Georgiou and Abby Denmead helped Belconnen United to a 3-2 win over Canberra Olympic who ended with ten players following a second-half send-off. Mackenzie Williams had given Olympic the lead, and Sephora Fiori equalised on the hour, but Aggie Shaw won it for the Blue Devils. Meanwhile, Canberra Croatia recorded a comfortable 4-0 away win over Gungahlin United at Harrison Playing Fields. Over at Melrose Synthetic, West Canberra Wanderers defeated Tuggeranong United 3-0.

NPL15
Lily Cummings and Amy Sephora were both on target twice for Belconnen United at the Blue Devils hit half-a-dozen goals without reply in an opening day win over Canberra Olympic. Sofia Kuminek and Evie Youden completed an excellent opening day for the hosts. West Canberra Wanderers eased past Tuggeranong United in the Southside derby, Tallara Evans and Amelie Moss scoring in the first-half, Selena Tuckwell putting the game beyond United’s reach after the interval. Gungahlin United took the lead against Canberra Croatia through a 6th minute penalty from Lara Ferguson, but after that it was all Croatia as they managed five without reply after the interval. Tayla Brayshaw levelled matters before goals from Ruby Cunningham, Leilani Denis, Emma McCluskey and Gemma Jones sealed the points. Meanwhile, Olivia Rushton was on target twice for Majura FC as they came from 0-1 down to defeat BellaMonaro 6-1.

NPL17
Majura FC began their NPL17 campaign in blistering style as they romped to a huge nineteen-goal win against BellaMonaro at Kaleen Enclosed. The hosts were in ruthless form throughout and netted at regular intervals to kick-start their 2025 season in commanding fashion. Belconnen United netted nine themselves as they roared to a big win over a gallant Canberra Olympic at the same Kaleen venue twenty-four hours earlier. There as a remarkable comeback at Harrison on Sunday as Canberra Croatia came from 3-0 behind to earn a point with a rousing comeback against Gungahlin United. Two goals from Zara Hall, sandwiching a strike from Annelise McLennan had Gunners cruising, but a 55th minute penalty from Keira Nugent suddenly had nerves fraying. Two goals in ten minutes from Arijana Majetic earned Croatia their draw. Finally, West Canberra Wanderers enjoyed their maiden match of 2025 as they romped to success in the Southside derby defeating local rivals Tuggeranong United 11-0.
