Five rounds into the National Premier League Boys competitions across the four age-grades and the goals continue to flow with team performances accentuated by some wonderful individual goalscoring feats, alongside some creative skills and defensive solidity in what is shaping into an excellent season.
NPL14
Tigers FC beat Monaro Panthers by the odd goal in five in their NPL14 encounter, William Morey scoring twice within five minutes in the second-half to turn a 2-1 deficit into a 2-3 success for the visiting team. Vincent Burton bagged a second-half hat-trick with three goals in twelve minutes as Belconnen hit five without replay away to Brindabella Blues, whilst the O’Connor Knights won the derby by three goals to nil against Croatia, Jonas Grunthal netting a brace, and Tomi Radic the third. A Patrick Allen penalty in the 50th minute meanwhile earned West Canberra Wanderers a point in a 2-2 draw with Majura FC. Ayomiken Oyedale scored four, and Mason Bonnett three, as Gungahlin hit thirteen against Tuggeranong United, and there was a double for Isaac Carroll as Wagga City Wanderers defeated Canberra Olympic by four goals at O’Connor Enclosed and Woden valley too three points against Radford College.

Timothy and Nicholas Lutnant scored in each half as Woden Valley won away at Radford College, Nicholas from a penalty with Woden also recording a clean sheet in their success. Wagga City Wanderers eased past Canberra Olympic at O’Connor Enclosed with a competent 3-1 win, whilst both teams were reduced to ten in the Battle of the Big Cats, however Tigers scored twice in the final quarter of an hour to win 2-0, Dylan Bates and Henry Shoring with the goals. Belconnen United scored seven and conceded three in a goal-fest against Brindabella Blues, Lucas Carbonell claiming a treble for the victors, there were five different players on the scoresheet for Croatia as they roared to a derby day away win over O’Connor Knights and West Canberra Wanderers’ Eric Bui scored two as the home side defeated visiting Majura FC 4-1. Amal Kamara scored twice for Gungahlin in their 5-2 away win over Tuggeranong United for whom Eddie Lester and Lincoln Corby scored.

Liam Kneeshaw hit a hat-trick for Belconnen United as the Blue Devils scored five ina big away day win over Brindabella Blues in NPL16. Noah Souverain, who would score a double in the U18 fixture, sealed a 3-1 away win for Canberra Croatia over O’Connor Knights, Lemar Katawazai on target again with the visitors ending with ten men. Two goals in four minutes for Xavier Phan-Bowman and Milan Myutel-Mansur gave Majura FC a 2-0 win away at West Canberra Wanderers, and Tigers FC hit six against nine-man Monaro Panthers, half-a-dozen different goalscorers finding their way onto the scoresheet in the handsome win. There was five goals for Gungahlin United’s Andreas Kaskoutas in a big away win at Tuggeranong United, Wagga City Wanderers and Canberra Olympic shared eight goals in a game that featured seven different scorers at O’Connor Enclosed whilst Woden Valley defeated Radford College 2-0.

Riley O’Sullivan scored a second half hat-trick for Tigers FC, all three goals coming in a ruthless twenty-five-minute spell to help Tigers to a 4-0 win over Monaro Panthers. Noah Souverain scored in each half for Canberra Croatia in the mini-derby against O’Connor Knights, Croatia winning 4-0, whilst Jack Moyle scored an early winner for Belconnen United who defeated Brindabella Blues, the hosts ended the match with ten men. Elsewhere, Majura FC secured a 3-1 win away to West Canberra Wanderers. Five different players scored for Radford College as they won against Woden Valley, three inside the first-half, Gungahlin scored two late on to finally shake off the challenge of Tuggeranong United, Kwol Kwol and Esmail Zahir netting inside the final ten minutes despite Gunners being reduced to ten men, whilst Canberra Olympic and Wagga City Wanderers played out a 3-3 draw, Wanderers leading 3-0 only for Olympic to score three in the final nineteen minutes, including two for Mason Fardell to take a point.
