The NPL Boys season completed its fourth round on the weekend as the early league tables begin to take shape amongst, as ever, plenty of goals, cards, and action across all four age groups.
NPL14
Gungahlin United preserved their unbeaten start to the league season in the NPL14 competition as they claimed a fourth win in succession by netting a dozen goals in a 12-3 win over Radford College who remain without a point. O’Connor Knights are only a couple of points adrift after four different players scored in a 4-1 win over Wagga City Wanderers while ten-man Belconnen United recovered from 0-2 down to draw 2-2 with Tigers FC, Vincent Burton equalising in the second-half. Canberra Croatia edged out Majura FC by the odd goal in five, Peter O’Brien grabbed the matchwinner for West Canberra Wanderers in their narrow 1-0 away win over Monaro Panthers, and Spencer Smyth was the difference for Tuggeranong United against Brindabella Blues with his 47th minute winning goal. Canberra Olympic scored four goals in the second-half to turn around a 1-0 deficit to Woden Valley and claim the points.

Canberra Croatia remain top of the NPL15 table on goal difference after they scored eleven without reply in dismantling Majura FC at Melrose grass fields on Saturday afternoon. O’Connor Knights are just behind, an own gaol from Kasper Szyndler and a penalty from Logan Volkert giving them a 2-0 win over the visiting Wagga City Wanderers, with Woden Valley in third following a 4-1 win over Canberra Olympic, John Sharkey on target twice. Jonah Allwright netted the first three of West Canberra Wanderers’ four in their 4-2 away win over Monaro Panthers for whom Thomas Canbulat bagged two, briefly bringing the teams level at 2-2, while Connor Regent struck what turned out to be the matchwinner in Tuggeranong United’s 2-1 win over Brindabella Blues. Elsewhere, there was a hat-trick for Lucas Carbonell of Belconnen United in a 4-0 win over Tigers FC, and Radford College earned a creditable 1-1 draw with Gungahlin United.

Goalkeeper Cooper Rice scored for Tigers FC directly from his own penalty box with a drop-punt as Tigers FC defeated Belconnen United 3-1 to move top of NPL16 on goal difference alongside Canberra Croatia, both teams having won four from four. While Rice was scoring for Tigers, Lemar Katawazai was scoring a hat-trick for Croatia in their 8-1 hammering of Majura FC. Canberra Olympic hit seven on their trip to play Woden Valley, Benjmain Booth claiming two of them, whilst Monaro Panthers managed six in their 6-1 success over West Canberra Wanderers, Ethan Lo and Massimo Guarino scoring two apiece. Gungahlin United won 4-0 away to Radford College, a last-minute winner from Rafael Rodrigues allowed O’Connor Knights to win 2-1 against Wagga City Wanderers at Nicholls Synthetic, and Tuggeranong United and Brindabella Blues shared four goals, and the points, in a draw at Bonython Oval.

Maswa Josue bagged a second hat-trick of season, taking his personal total to nine goals in four games as Tigers FC earned three points, and a fourth win of the season, with a narrow 3-2 win over Belconnen United at Hawker Football Centre. That result was enough to keep Tigers top courtesy of a marginally better goal difference than Gungahlin United who enjoyed a 4-1 away win over Radford College. Noah Souverain scored a twenty-five-minute hat-trick, including one from the penalty spot, as Canberra Croatia defeated Majura FC 7-2, Ondrej Busek scored twice in West Canberra Wanderers 4-0 away win over Monaro Panthers, and Finlay Jenkins bagged the winning goal as Wagga City Wanderers beat O’Connor Knights 2-1. Meanwhile, Riley Carter struck four, and Fletcher Maconachie three, as Canberra Olympic romped to a huge 14-0 win against Woden Valley who remain at the foot of the NPL18 league table, and Brindabella Blues netted five in the final twenty minutes, including two penalties from Cooper Gavin, as the Blues overturned a 1-2 deficit to Tuggeranong United to win 6-2.
