Loads of matches to catch up on in the Boys National Premier League this week, with plenty of midweek action added to the usual weekend clashes of significance around Canberra and the region. Here’s what happened!
NPL14
Action began in the NPL14 competition on Tuesday evening where Lukas Young and Adi Pijpers both scored hat-tricks as Canberra Croatia defeated Woden Valley 12-1 at Woden Park. Twenty-four hours later, a Louis Harding hat-trick, and a double from Vicent Burton helped Belconnen United to a 5-1 win over Monaro Panthers, Patrick Allen got two as West Canberra Wanderers won 4-0 at Radford College, and on Thursday Anton Kafadar did the same as Tigers FC defeated Canberra Olympic 3-0. The weekend matches saw a six-goal thriller in the Riverina as Wagga City Wanderers and Majura FC shared the goals in a 3-3 draw, half-a-dozen different players scoring, Gungahlin United sweeping past Tigers FC 5-2 at Harrison, and Canberra Croatia winning 4-2 at Brindabella Blues. Patrick Allen scored four for West Canberra Wanderers who won the Woden derby in some comfort, as they swept aside Woden Valley 7-1 at Melrose Grass Fields, and there were seen goals at Kaleen Enclosed, Alexander Gourgouras bagging two of them for Canberra Olympic who won 4-3 away to Belconnen United, and O’Connor Knights were 4-0 winners over Monaro Panthers. On Sunday, a goal from Ayomikun Oyedele proved decisive as Gungahlin United won 3-2 away to Wagga City Wanderers, and Tuggeranong United needed an equaliser from Jigme Wangchuk to claim parity in a 2-2 home draw with Radford College.

A double from Elliot Moss, with both goals coming within three minutes of each other, overturned a first-half goal from Nicholas Lutnant as Canberra Croatia won 2-1 against Woden Valley in the midweek match at Woden Park in the NPL15 division. On Wednesday, goals from James Czajowski, and James O’Meley saw West Canberra Wanderers win against Radford College, Brindabella Blues and O’Connor Knights shared the points in a 2-2 draw, while Majura FC against Tuggeranong United was postponed. On Saturday, Logan Volkart was on target twice for O’Connor Knights who were 3-0 victors over Monaro Panthers, John Sharkey replicated that feat with a brace for Woden Valley as they won 3-0 away to West Canberra Wanderers in the Woden Derby, Gungahlin United and Tigers FC drew 2-2 at Harrison, while Wagga City Wanderers were too good for Majura FC winning 7-0 at Kessler Park. Meanwhile, Lucas Carbonell netted twice for Belconnen United in their 4-1 win at home to Canberra Olympic, and Canberra Croatia were 4-0 victors on their visit to Calwell to take on Brindabella Blues. At Gissing Oval on Sunday, goals from Jackson Myers and Jacob Comtesse were enough for Wagga City Wanderers to claim all three points with a 2-0 win over Gungahlin United, whilst Tuggeranong United emerged with a 3-1 win over Radford College at Kambah 2.

Lemar Katawazai and Simeon Omosigho were both at the double on Tuesday evening as Canberra Croatia claimed the points at the AIS in the NPL16 division with a 5-1 win over Tuggeranong United, while on the same night at Calwell, O’Connor Knights were 3-0 victors’ over Brindabella Blues. The other midweek match saw Canberra Olympic defeat Tigers FC 2-1, coming from a goal behind through goals from Sebastian Anderson, and Joshua Omojiade after Frederick Palmer had put Tigers in front inside fifteen minutes. Jackson Myers and William Johns scored two apiece as Wagga City Wanderers ran up a 6-2 home win over Majura FC on Saturday afternoon. Anas Elsergany grabbed two of his own as O’Connor Knights scored seven in their win over Monaro Panthers at O’Connor Enclosed, Woden Valley won the Woden derby by four goals to two against West Canberra Wanderers, and there as a hat-trick for Liam Kneeshaw in Belconnen United’s 5-1 win over Canberra Olympic, one of the goals from a penalty. Canberra Croatia also won 5-1, in their case away to Brindabella Blues, whilst both teams scored five at Harrison, Gungahlin United and Tigers FC fighting out a barely credible 5-5 stalemate. Gungahlin netted five the next day as well, as they travelled to Wagga and defeated the Wanderers 5-3, Andreas Kaskoutas with a treble, with Tuggeranong United defeating Radford College to round out the scorelines.

There were five different goalscorers for Canberra Croatia at the AIS in midweek as Croatia tore apart Tuggeranong United 5-0 in the NPL18 league thanks to goals from Xavier Cussen, Oliver Hawkins, James Nguyen, Noah Souverain, and Nico Vidakovic. It was Croatia on the end of five goals on Saturday morning as Riley Brown and Phillip Adoyi both scored twice in Brindabella Blues 5-1 win at Calwell, whilst at Gissing Oval, goals from Henry Crawford, Keith Jose, Lucas Woodham, and Isaac Brown helped Wagga City Wanderers to a 4-2 win over Majura FC. Over at O’Connor Enclosed, the O’Connor Knights were too strong for Monaro Panthers, Cos Arena at the double as the Knights hit six without conceding. Meanwhile, honours were shared in the derby at Melrose Synthetic as West Canberra Wanderers lead through Leo Turner was wiped out by an equalising girl from Musa Bouhafs for Woden Valley in a 1-1 draw. There was a draw at McKellar Park as Belconnen United and Canberra Olympic ended 2-2, the Blue Devils leading twice through Rhys Priestly and Eli Georgiou, with Mason Fardell and Llandan Vergano levelling each time, and in the big match at the top of the table, it was Gungahlin United who emerged victorious with a 3-1 win over Tigers FC. Riley O’Sullivan struck first for Tigers, Jayden Kocanov, Kwol Kwol, and an own goal from Cody Weinhardt seeing Gunners home. A single goal from Thomas Davies was enough for Tuggeranong United to squeeze past Radford College at Kambah 2, whilst the second match in 24-hours for Wagga City Wanderers ended in a 1-1 draw with table-toppers Gungahlin United,
