Capital Football’s National Futsal Championships continued their respective journeys at the tournament in Melbourne, with an action-packed Day Three of matches at the State Hockey and Netball Centre.
The Under 13 Girls secured second place in Pool A, despite a 4-0 defeat to an undefeated Football West. The team has only conceded five goals for the tournament, showing a disciplined performance throughout. They face Football NSW Thunder in the Quarter Finals for a chance at progressing through to the semi-finals.
The Under 25 Girls completed their pool stage with a 2-2 draw against a Football Queelsnad that previously hadn’t dropped a point. The team battled hard against a top side, with Samantha Shea and Isla Murphy on the scoresheet.
After a gruelling schedule, with six games in three days, the Under 17 Girls wrapped up their tournament with fixtures against Football NSW Storm and an unbeaten Football NSW Thunder. A side primarly made up of 16-year-olds, the team putting in a grat performance against NSW, falling to a 2-1 loss that could have easily gone the other way.
The Open Women Gold concluded their NFC25 campaign with a double header, facing Norther NSW and Football NSW Lightning, going down 3-0 and 4-1. The team’s performance on the court has been impressive, consistently fighting hard, with every player contributing across the full match duration, and gaining valuable experience.
An undefeated Open Women Blue side wrapped up the pools stage with two dominant wins. The side began the day with an 11-0 thrashing over Football West, before backing that up with a dominant 9-1 win over Football Victoria White. Jamie Berkeley and Brittany Palombi have led the way for the side, with nine and seven goals to their names respectively.
