It’s almost Summer and that means that local Futsal is back for another season! The 2017 Premier League gets underway tonight with some fantastic matches.
The first round of the Men’s competitions kicks off at 6:30pm, with the experienced NCU Navy looking to make another tilt at the title. Navy missed the Grand Final last year after two years making it, and will be aiming to be back there again in Season 2017/18. NCU Red v Boomerangs Blue is set to be an evenly matched contest, and likely a fast-paced one with plenty of Futsal experience in the ranks.
New side O’Connor Knights will have a tough initiation to the competition against last seasons winners Canberra Olympic Superprawns, and it looks like the visitors will be the team to beat once more this year. The final match of the night sees the Boomerangs Youth side looking to make their mark in the first round of the competition, against the seasoned veterans in the Timberwolves FC outfit. The Women’s Premier League gets underway tomorrow night with a strong card of fixtures at the AIS.

The Women’s Premier League gets underway on Thursday night, with four big match ups making up the card. CUA Green and White are new additions to the competition, and Green will line up in the first match of the night against Gungahlin United Yellow. Yellow are a young team as well, so this match is sure to be played at a frenetic pace.
Gungahlin United Pink are always the team to beat in this competition, but will be hungry to reclaim their title after going down in last season’s Grand Final in a penalty shootout. CUA White will have a tough initiation to the competition here, but have the youth and skill to make a game of it.
NCU Navy were the team that toppled Gungahlin in that decider, and bring largely the same group to the table this season. They will face a well-drilled, young Boomerangs side who made the semi-finals last year and will be looking to improve on that result in 2017/18.
The final match of the night sees the experience Belconnen United side face up against NCU Red, and United will look the favourites with a team full of NPL stars. NCU Red have largely the same side as last season, but will have their work cut out here against a dominant Belconnen side.
