The Capital Football Men’s Futsal Premier League competition is heating up as team reach the pointy end of the season. Read all the major talking points from the Round 10 action below.
Canberra Olympic 5 def North Canberra Untouchables 3
Canberra Olympic picked up their second win of the season against the North Canberra Untouchables, off the back of a hattrick from Aisosa Ihegie.
After an uneventful opening 10 minutes in which neither side could gain control, Olympic found themselves in front with Ihegie opening the scoring.
Despite having a penalty attempt saved, Untouchables found themselves level with Michael Sydney finding the back the net. Headed into the break, Cale Brown fired home to give Olympic the lead once again.
Olympic came out firing in the second half as Ihegie and Brown both found the back of the net for a second time.
Untouchables thought back however, reducing the deficit through Ray Moon and brant Taylor. It would matter little however as Ihegie got his third of the night to seal the win in the closing stages of the game.
Supercats 3 def. by Boomerangs FS 6
Boomerangs FS further strengthened their top two position with a dominant second half performance over Supercats.
Supercats opened the scoring early with Arden Law slotting the ball home after a well worked move. Boomerangs levelled not long after, as Jake Wilsener managed to squeeze the ball home from the corner.
There were three goals in an action packed five minutes before the break. Sam McLachlan added a second for Supercats, and Law a third. Maxx Green pulled one back for Boomerangs, reducing the deficit to one right before the break.
Boomerangs took control of the game in the second half, scoring four goals. It started with a free kick smashed into the top corner by Sean Byrne.
Byrne would add a second to his tally, as Ryan Quarmby and Bailey Sorenson also got their names on the scoresheet, rounding out a dominant second half performance.
Soccer FC 0 draw Timberwolves FC 0
Despite their being no goals scored, Soccer FC and Timberwolves FC played out an entertaining draw.
There were chances aplenty at both ends throughout the 40 minutes, but some outstanding goalkeeping saw scores stay locked throughout.
Soccer FC got the ball rolling with early chances but could not get their attempts on target. The same could be said for Timberwolves as they could not get past Jamie Lee-Guo, after a stunning double save.
The result saw Soccer FC go seven points clear of fourth place while Timberwolves edged closer to a finals spot.
