Capital Football’s annual Female Football Week Awards Brunch, sponsored by Capital Chemist, took place at the Rex Hotel in Braddon where five winners were crowned amid an entertaining morning hosted by MC Liz Deep-Jones.
As well as the award announcements in the five categories, Deep-Jones hosted a panel discussion that included five-time world championship medallist and two-time Paralympian Vanessa Low, A-Leagues Match Commissioner and Chair of the Capital Football Disciplinary and Disputes Tribunal, Sigourney Dunk, and Liberty A-Leagues official Delfina Dimoski.
Woden Valley Coach Beck Grant took out the Coach of the Year Award, Janelle Patten of the same club was named Champion of the Year, whilst Carly Salmon of South Canberra won the Player of the Year Award.
Elsewhere, Virginia Henderson of Weston Molongo FC was crowned Referee of the Year, whilst Chloe Hay scooped the Volunteer of the Year Award, all worthy winners due to their commitment to the improvement of Women’s Football in our region.
