Lanyon United Football Club has been awarded Capital Football’s Club Changer Club of the month award.
This special recognition highlights the club’s dedication to August’s critical focus area: Diversity, equality and inclusion.
Lanyon United is committed to creating an environment where everyone feels welcome, valued and has the opportunity to participate, regardless of age, gender, ability, background or experience. The club believes football should be accessible to everyone and has built a club culture based on respect, belonging and community.
Over the past year, Lanyon has continued to grow participation across men’s, women’s and masters’ teams while encouraging new and returning players to get involved. The club prides itself on being inclusive both on and off the field, ensuring every member feels supported and connected, and does this by creating an environment that promotes leadership and good sportsmanship, provides opportunities for players and coaches to develop in the sport, and upholds high community standards, all while keeping the focus on fun.
Lanyon’s commitment extends beyond football, by regularly hosting community events including trivia nights, golf days, presentation evenings and family BBQs, bringing together players, families and supporters from all walks of life. These events strengthen relationships and reinforce a welcoming club culture.
Giving back to the community is equally important. Lanyon United proudly supports charitable initiatives such as Play in Purple for pancreatic cancer awareness, using football to raise awareness, encourage conversations and make a positive impact beyond the game.
Volunteers are the backbone of the club. Their dedication ensures every member enjoys a positive experience in an environment where diversity is embraced, participation is encouraged and everyone has the opportunity to contribute.
‘Lanyon United is more than just a football club—we are a family’.
