Belconnen United repeated their 2024 Chairty Shield triumph with a 3-1 victory over Majura FC in the Girls U 17 Charity Shield in sweltering conditions at Melrose Synthetic.
Three first-half goals were enough for the Blue Devils who came out of the blocks firing and were in complete control of the opening stanza. Daniela Eskinja opened the scoring for the Champions in only the fourth minute, a lead that was doubled eight minutes later when Sienna D’Ambrosio converted following a Belconnen corner.
The third goal, coming three minutes before the half-hour mark, was beautifully curled into the bottom corner from range by left-back Elfin Mokany.
Majura were much better in the second-half and deservedly pulled a goal back through Eliane Lum with twelve minutes remaining but, by that stage, Belconnen had done more than enough to claim the Shield and add it to their Grand Final silverware.
