Capital Football is disappointed to announce that due to availability and the lack of appropriate referees, we are unable to cover the full round of Capital Futsal League (CFL) games this weekend.

Matches that are going ahead are as follows.

Friday 4 October

First Grade Men: South Canberra Swift v UC Stars

First Grade Women: South Canberra Swift v UC Stars

Saturday 5 October

U23 Men: UC Stars v North Canberra Fire

Reserve Women: UC Stars v North Canberra Fire

All other CFL matches have been postponed and will be played at a later date.

This decision was taken as there were insufficient officials with the required levels of qualification and experience to maintain the integrity of the CFL competition and ensure the safety and wellbeing of players and match officials.

In large part this is due to the long weekend, where a significant number of our CFL panel are away from Canberra.

Preliminary forecasting of Rounds 2-4 suggest that this weekend’s issues should be a one-off and that moving forward, while there is still significant work to do to recruit, train, and upskill our CFL referee cohort, we should have much better availability.
