The regular season of the 2025 Capital Futsal League is done and dusted, with the top four teams from the Men’s and Women’s competitions set to battle it out in the Semi-Finals at Queanbeyan PCYC.
The CFL Women’s kick off the finals fixtures, with a Wednesday night double header. West Lightning Blue finished the season as premiers, undefeated with 11 wins and one draw in 12 games. The side has both the best attack (90 scored) and best defence (18 conceded), and will be strong favourites to complete the double as Grand Final Champions.
North Fire Inferno and South Canberra Swift Green had near identical seasons, with both finishing on level points and with the same goal difference, however it was the North Fire that held on to second place by the virtue of scoring two more goals than Swift, 68 – 66. The two sides won’t have to wait long to reignite their rival, meeting each other in the second semi-final.
North Fire Flames round out the top four, finishing four points off third place and ten points ahead of fifth. They will have their work cut out for them, as the take on the undefeated West Lightning Blue side. Last time they met ended in a 9-5 win for the Lightning, however Fire will be confident given they have the second-best attack in the competition.
The CFL Men’s Semi-Finals take place two days after the Women’s with two blockbuster Friday night clashes. South Swift Green took out top spot after an undefeated season with 11 wins and one draw. While there are two sides that surpass them in terms of goals scored, they possess what is comfortably the best defence having only conceded 20 times through the season.
The high scoring UC Stars side held on to second place, with an incredible 95 goals scored, the most of any team. They also have the second-best defence in the competition, with only three losses all season.
Stars will take on South Canberra Swift White Tigers, who finished two points behind in third place. The side stormed into the semi-finals, winning the last three matches to secure their finals spot.
Rounding out the top four is North Fire Inferno, hanging on by a point over fifth place. After losing their final game of the regular season to South Canberra Swift Green, and will take on the undefeated premiers again in the semi-finals. They won’t be short on confidence though having scored 86 goals this season, the second most of any team.
