There may be a distinct tinge of blue and white across Canberra this weekend as the Capital Football State and Community League Grand Finals are played at Kambah on Saturday with the Women’s and Masters’ competitions taking over Harrison on Sunday.
The blue represents ANU FC who have an incredible eleven teams in their respective showdowns, whilst Weston-Molonglo FC will field seven teams in the 23 matches that will decide who takes home the silverware at the end of a testing campaign.
“Grand Final weekend is always a highlight of the season for our teams and this weekend will be no exception,” Capital Football Head of participation and game Development, Mark Barnes, said of the packed weekend of action.
“We will crown champions in each of our men’s and women’s State League and Community League Divisions and are expecting some quality football to be played with all the tension and excitement you would expect of a Final.
“Capital Football would like to congratulate all the teams that have made their Grand Finals and wish them the very best of luck for the matches.”
Grand Final matches will be decided on the day. If games are level after ninety minutes a period of thirty minutes of extra time will be played. If the scores are still level, the matches will be decided by penalties.
