The 2018 ActewAGL Junior League season got underway on Tuesday with the official launch held at Hawker Football Centre.
Children from various ActewAGL Junior League clubs participated in a number of activities and activations before Capital Football CEO Phil Brown and ActewAGL’s Phil Walshe addressed the crowd.
With the partnership entering its 15th season, Walshe said ActewAGL are excited to be a part of the league once more.
“For fourteen years we have been the major sponsor of the Under 10’s through to the Under 18’s Junior Leagues. We will continue this long-standing relationship and remain committed to supporting grassroots sports,” he said.
“This sponsorship is just one of 20 local and regional NSW junior clubs that ActewAGL support.”
“ActewAGL plays a big role in sponsoring and encouraging our youngsters to get involved in sports clubs that promote inclusion, teamwork and active living.”
“The major increase in female participation at the junior league is fantastic, we also sponsor Canberra United who are excellent role models and show that a successful career in football is possible.”
With participation numbers already looking strong and up on last year, 2018 is set to be another bumper year of Junior Football in the capital.
Capital Football CEO Brown thanked ActewAGL for their ongoing support of not only the Junior League but football as a whole.
“It is with great pride and excitement that we welcome ActewAGL back for another year as the naming rights sponsor of our Junior League competition,” he said.
“ActewAGL’s contribution over the years has supported the delivery of competitions to young players in our region. Their ongoing involvement ensures football remains an accessible and inclusive sport for all.”
The 2018 ActewAGL Junior League season will begin on Saturday 5th May with matches taking place across Canberra.
