Missed the Men’s National Premier League Round 7? Here’s your wrap-up!
IN A NUTSHELL
Tuggeranong secured a record NPL win for them, hammering Yoogali 6-0 with Nic Emanuel opening his NPL account with a brace. Gungahlin out-gunned the Tigers at the AIS, winning 3-0, Lukman Ahmed-Shaibu scoring (again) whilst Canberra Croatia saw three cleared off the line in a 0-0 with the Panthers. And the Knights? They won again, meaning they’ve gone a year unbeaten. Niko Kresic winning the BBQ Derby in added time.
GOAL OF THE WEEK
Buoyed by his first ever NPL strike, Nic Emanuel was a man on a mission. Winning the ball with a strong tackle on the edge of the penalty area, his spin and subsequent run took out a trio of Yoogali defenders, before ending with a thumping finish across the goalkeeper into the far corner put the cherry on the icing on the cake of the win.
PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK
Going to have to hand this one to the entire Tuggeranong United squad. Facing Yoogali on their own patch, United dominated from ten get-go, racking up half-a-dozen goals in ruthless fashion to notch up a fourth game without loss, and post an all-time TUFC NPL record win. Smooth going from the Southsiders.
TEAM OF THE WEEK
COMING SOON
The Knights put their unbeaten record to the test when they travel to take on the Tigers, Canberra Olympic need the points, desperately, but the Panthers will be in no mood to oblige at O’Connor Enclosed. Tuggeranong’s resurgence will be stretched to the limit by the unbeaten Gunners at Kambah, whilst Yoogali head to the Lion’s Den at Deakin Stadium as they meet Canberra Croatia.
