Missed the Men’s National Premier League Round 14? Here’s your wrap-up!
IN A NUTSHELL
A first National Premier League point for Yoogali who continued their love-affair with the Riverside, where they won the Grand Final in 2023, by holding the Panthers to a 0-0 draw. Gungahlin had no such problems at O’Connor Enclosed, three first-half goals seeing off Canberra Olympic. Tuggeranong were felled by a late winner from the Knights for the second time this season, all three goals in the 2-1 win from the spot, and Croatia came from a goal down to defeat Tigers 3-1.
GOAL OF THE WEEK
A stunning free-kick from Jeremy Habtemariam is our Goal of the Week for Round 14. The Gungahlin midfield ace lined up his effort from twenty-five metres and curled a stunner up and over the wall that left Sebastian Usai grasping at thin air. A sublime effort, executed with maximum efficiency.
PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK
The entirety of the Yoogali squad get the nod this week for earning their first-ever NPL point at the fourteenth time of asking. From back to front the men in yellow put in a stellar shift, working hard for each other, putting bodies on the line, and limiting the Panthers opportunities. It was resilient and a reminder of what the men from Griffith can do.
TEAM OF THE WEEK
COMING SOON
The important game keep ticking on as O’Connor Knights and Tigers meet at O’Connor Enclosed with both still handily placed to try and close the gap on the league leading Gungahlin United. The Gunners meanwhile host Tuggeranong United at the AIS twenty-four hours later. Saturday evening sees the Panthers entertain Olympic at the Riverside, whilst Canberra Croatia head interstate to tackle Yoogali.
