In midweek, Canberra Croatia moved level on points with Belconnen United and significantly improved their goal difference as they thumped Tuggeranong United 16-0 in a Wednesday evening match at the Australian Institute of Sport.
Goal flowed from the outset for Croatia who had racked up ten by the half-way stage and went on to add half-a-dozen more after the break. Emily Hazilias led the way with five, moving onto thirteen for the season, whilst Rhiannon Fensom helped herself to a hat-trick.
Arijana Majetic, and Pia McGhie both added a brace apiece, as did substitute Nicole Zhao, whilst the scoring was bookended by an opening goal from Amy Bongiorno and Elizabeth Bartone.
Just twenty-four hours later, Belconnen United reasserted their superiority as they recorded a 5-0 away win over Majura FC at a match played at Gungahlin Enclosed Oval.
It took the Blue Devils a minute to take the lead as Scarlett Wells broke the deadlock, later to add a second goal to retake the lead in the race for the Division Golden Boot with fourteen goals.
Arianna Rathouski was to add a double of her own either side of the half-time break, her second and third of the year, whilst Pascale La Hei also moved onto that total of goals as she rounded off the scoring with four minutes remaining.
The points were shared at Nicholls Synthetic on Sunday afternoon as Gungahlin United and Canberra Croatia fought out a lively 2-2 draw.
Gungahlin led when Hannah Morrison tapped in from close range in just the eleventh minute of the match, but Croatia found an equaliser as Pia McGhie pounced on a loose ball in the area following a long-throw, to thrash home.
Gungahlin regained the lead in the 66th minute when Matylda Wells-Sheather reacted fastest after a hot was parried into her path, only for Nicole Zhao to draw the teams back on terms once more with four minutes to play.
The scheduled match between West Canberra Wanderers and Tuggeranong United at Melrose Synthetic was postponed.
