In midweek ANU FC closed the gap on Belconnen United to within two points as they secured a very hard-fought win against a highly-competitive White Eagles in a rearranged Round 15 match that was played at Ipan Park, home of Brindabella Blues on a freezing cold evening.
The University side struggled to make the breakthrough against the team at the foot of the table but, when they did, it was little surprise that it was leading scorer Jack Gibson that broken the stalemate, the striker taking his season tally to sixteen five minutes into the second-half.
Eagles were undeterred though and struck back to level just five minutes later as Riley Angelosante equalised, but ANU found the goal they required six minutes following the leveller as Ethan Krug found the net for the third time in 2024, a critical intervention to claim the victory.
