The Powerchair Football League will make a triumphant return to action tomorrow, with the first round of the season set to take place and both teams raring to go.
Back for another season are Woden Valley Soccer Club and Gungahlin United and, after a Powerchair Club Championships campaign, players in both teams have shown huge improvement.
Capital Football Game Development Coordinator and Woden Valley SC Powerchair player, Brandon Stroud, is excited for the season to start.
“All the players and I are really looking forward to the Powerchair Football season so we can showcase our skills, and everyone can see how much we have improved,” Stroud commented.
“I am looking forward to playing against some of my teammates who I played with when I represented Canberra United at the Powerchair Football Club Championships earlier this year”.
Head of Participation and Game Development, Mark Barnes, echoed Brandon’s comments.
“It’s awesome to see this competition back for its second year and the potential for growth,” Barnes said of the competition.
“The program has had another player join, and we are excited for more people to get involved. I want to thank everyone who has supported the program along the way, and for their continued support into the future”.
Will Woden Valley SC retain the title or will Gungahlin United raise it for the first time? Check out the action this Saturday at the National Hockey Centre. Game starts at 11.30am.
