Capital Football is pleased to today announce that Phil Booth has been named the new Capital Football Technical Director (TD).
Phil has been with Capital Football since February 2015 as the Coach Development Manager, overseeing Community and Advanced Coaching Courses in the ACT and surrounding regions and has been acting in the role of TD following the departure of Scott O’Donell in December 2021.
Phil Booth is an AFC/FA A Licence coach with an extensive footballing resume in Australia and the UK spanning over 25 years. He has worked at several English Premier League clubs including Manchester United, Everton and Blackburn Rovers as a Youth Development Coach and Scout, more recently in Australia as the Head Skill Acquisition Trainer at Canberra United Academy.
Phil said he looks forward to continuing in developing football in the ACT and surrounds.
“I have been in football for over 25 years and have seen growth in many areas, Canberra has a lot of potential and talent, we just need to harness it,” he said.
“We all need to pull in the right direction, from grassroots to high performance.
“I would like to thank Capital Football for this opportunity.”
Chair of the Capital Football Board Fran Sankey congratulated Phil on his appointment, adding that “Phil is a key figure in the region’s football community, organising and facilitating numerous coach education courses. His dedication to developing players and coaches makes his appointment a very fitting reward for effort.”
“Phil’s experience speaks for itself – coupled with his time spent across the Canberra footballing community, Phil has a keen insight to the growth and development of football in the region”.
