Wet weather meant that the NPL Girls competition saw only a handful of matches take place across Canberra on Sunday, the matches called off before the beaming sunshine and blue skies arrived. Here’s what occurred in the fixtures that beat the conditions.
NPL14
There was only one goal in the match between Gungahlin United and BellaMonaro FC at Hawker Football centre as the Gunners won for the second time this season in the National Premier League U14 competition. Emily Mills goal decided matters, and it came early, an eighth minute effort that proved decisive. It was a strangely similar tale in the match at the other end of the table as Canberra Croatia continued to lead the way, helped by a further three points secured by a Harper Alderson goal after just thirteen minutes at Melrose Synthetic. Wet weather across the National Capital meant that the following fixtures were postponed: Belconnen United v West Canberra Wanderers, and Tuggeranong United v Majura FC.

The points were shared in the other match played on Sunday as Canberra Croatia and Canberra Olympic drew 1-1 at Melrose Synthetic.
