NPL14
There were two goals in each half for Wagga City Wanderers as Majura FC were swept aside at Dickson Playing Fields in NPL14. Ryan Jose, Emmanuel Connison, Noah Delves, and Ryan Dempsey were on target for Wanderers. Edward Saboisky struck twice for Woden Valley as they won the derby against West Canberra Wanderers by a comfortable margin of seven goals to nil, a goal-fest bettered by the nine-goal thriller at O’Connor Enclosed where Belconnen United came out on top of the ledger by five to four against Canberra Olympic. Meanwhile, Liam Charlton saw his name on the scoresheet twice as Canberra Croatia claimed a 4-0 home victory against Brindabella Blues. Monaro Panthers and O’Connor Knights couldn’t be separated as they fought out a goalless draw at South Jerrabomberra Regional Sporting Complex. In the Sunday matches, Gungahlin United won 4-1 away at Tigers FC, and Tuggeranong United defeated a much improved Radford College 3-2.

Wagga City Wanderers struck ten goals in a mammoth win over Majura FC at Dickson Playing Fields where Daniel Hardy (3), Jackson Myers (2), and a late brace from Ahmed Al-Saggaf secured a memorable success for the visitors. The Woden derby saw the Wanderers take the bragging rights as Jonah Allwright scored twice in a 3-1 win. Eamon Barret-Browne had given the Wanderers the lead, whilst a Nicholas Lutnant penalty reduced the arrears. The points were shared at O’Connor Enclosed where Canberra Olympic and Belconnen United could not be separated after ninety enthralling minutes, sharing six goals in a wonderfully madcap 3-3 draw. Canberra Croatia maintained their 100% record as the league leaders eased to a 4-0 home win over Brindabella Blues, while Gerard Van Den Bos and Benjamin Lucic each scored twice as the O’Connor Knights battered Monaro Panthers 8-2 at South Jerrabomberra Regional Sporting Complex. In the Sunday fixtures, Tigers FC and Gungahlin United shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Hector Dias scoring for the home team and John Jayan for the visitors, and Radford College edged past Tuggeranong United 2-1.

Toby McPherson was on target twice for O’Connor Knights as they hit six without reply against Monaro Panthers at South Jerrabomberra Regional Sporting Complex, Musa Bouhafs bagged four for Woden Valley in their 6-2 derby win over West Canberra Wanderers, and Lemar Katawazai struck a treble in Canberra Croatia’s 4-1 success over Brindabella Blues as goals were the order of the day in the NPL16 competition. Simeon Omosigho scored the other Croatia goal with Jeev Randhawa in reply for the defeated Blues. There were ten more netted at Dickson as Majura took home the points by virtue of netting six of them, Toby Grant and Nithin Naveen with two apiece, whilst there was a hat-trick for Beau Wikitera in defeat for Wagga City Wanderers. There were eight different goalscorers as Belconnen United cane from behind three times to eventually outlast Canberra Olympic for a 5-3 win, Jonah Briggs, Daniel Do, Sam York, Liam Kneeshaw and Atticus Mulvey-McHugh on target for the Blue Devils at O’Connor Enclosed. Tigers FC and Gungahlin United fought out a 1-1 draw on Sunday, Andreas Kaskoutas opening the scoring for Gungahlin before Taejun An levelled for the home team, whilst Tuggeranong United defeated Radford College 6-2.

Gungahlin United claimed the honours in the top-of-the-table match with Tigers FC, taking a 3-1 win at South Jerrabomberra, Antonio Carbone, an own goal from Liam Molloy and a strike from Noah Hewitt doing the honours and rendering Riley O’Sullivan’s goal a mere consolation for Tigers. Finlay Jenkins helped himself to a five-goal haul as Wagga City Wanderers took all the points with a hugely convincing 9-1 win over Majura Fc at Dickson Oval, William Lancaster, Vaughn Jenkins (2) and Finn Hegarty added to Finlay Jenkins five, Sebastian Accinelli pulling one back for the home team. Belconnen United won 2-1 away to Canberra Olympic, a ninetieth minute goal from Marc Papandrea saw nine-man O’Connor Knights win 2-1 at Monaro Panthers, and Brindabella Blues surprised Canberra Croatia with a 3-0 win at Yarralumla via goals from Luka Dzaja, Denis Zimba, and Phillip Adoyi. Canberra Croatia made no mistake in their midweek meeting with West Canberra Wanderers just prior to Easter as they romped to an 8-0 victory at Melrose Synthetic with two goals each for James Nguyen and Ben Polley. Meanwhile, the Woden derby ended all-square, Chase Sanderson opening the scoring for Woden Valley, Ondrej Busek earning West Canberra Wanderers a draw, and the same result was seen at Radford College as Tuggeranong United came from 0-2 down to draw 2-2 thanks to goals from Malakai Young and Henry Winslade.
