The NPL Boys program began on the weekend with some exciting matches, and a swathe of goals, as the teams met in four different age groups across Canberra and the surrounding region.
NPL14
Canberra Croatia began the U14 season with a convincing 5-1 win over Radford College, a result that puts them on top after Round 1 on goal difference, Gungahlin United winning 4-1 away to West Canberra Wanderers and Ryan Jose scoring twice for Wagga City Wanderers as they also won by four goals, their result achieved against Monaro Panthers. Xavi Ong was at the double for Canberra Olympic in a 3-0 win over Tuggeranong, whereas goals from Andrew Frazer and Eoin Shrewsbury eased Tigers FC to an opening day win over Brindabella Blues. Belconnen United and O’Connor Knights shared four goals, and the points, in an entertaining encounter, and there was nothing to separate Woden Valley and Majura who also drew.

Gungahlin United and Canberra Croatia set the early pace in the NPL15 competition claiming 4-0 wins, Gungahlin away at West Canberra Wanderers, and Croatia at home to Radford College, on a day in which there were no draws in the age group. Wagga City Wanderers secured a Round 1 three-point win as they defeated Monaro Panthers. A solitary goal from Dylan Bates gave Tigers FC a narrow success over Brindabella Blues, Khenrab Wangchuk scored the winning goal as O’Connor Knights beat Belconnen United by the odd goal in five, Aiden Muller did likewise for Woden Valley in their 2-1 win over Majura FC, and Tuggeranong United earned an impressive 2-1 away win at Canberra Olympic.

In the NPL16 Division Harvey Walton and Musa Bouhafs both netted an opening day hat-trick for Woden Valley as they won an eleven-goal thriller against Majura FC, Lukas Horne grabbed two in response for Majura. Lemar Katawazai also scored three as Canberra Croatia defeated Radford College 5-1, whilst Ayden Parsons was on the scoresheet twice for Canberra Olympic as they beat Tuggeranong United 5-0. There were big wins for Gungahlin United and Tigers FC, Wagga City Wanderers turned over Monaro Panthers 5-0, while one was enough for O’Connor Knights in their victory over Belconnen United.

There were six-goal wins for both Gungahlin United and Canberra Olympic to open the NPL18 season, against West Canberra Wanderers and Tuggeranong United respectively, Noah Hewitt scoring twice for Gunners. Canberra Croatia got five without reply against Radford College, while Wagga City Wanderers saw off Monaro Panthers 3-0 in the Riverina. Jordan Forka, Ronaldo Olivares, and Maswa Josue netted first-half goals for the Tigers in their 3-0 win over Brindabella Blues, and goals from Teale Robinson, from the penalty spot, Rhys Priestly, and Sam York enabled Belconnen United to defeat the Knights, for whom William Tweedie struck in response. Majura FC meanwhile enjoyed at 8-1 win against Woden Valley.
