The theme for this year’s International Women’s day is #ChooseToChallenge.
We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world.
From challenge comes change, so let’s all choose to challenge.
How will you help forge a gender equal world?
“At Wanderers we #CHOOSE TO CHALLENGE gender stereotypes, we choose to involve women and girls in all places where decisions are being made.
“We choose to celebrate the achievements of women and girls at our club, we choose to be inclusive, we choose to challenge inequality and we choose to challenge bias and to be a trailblazer in women’s football in Canberra.”
“As the largest women’s football club in the ACT, the entire executive and committee at ANUWFC are made up of strong and intelligent women who care deeply about sport, community and health. Our committee works closely together to lobby not only for our own players, but also for all female football players in the ACT.
“Over 2020 and 2021, ANUWFC has worked with the UC Stars, Capital Football, ACT Sportsgrounds, other State League clubs and elected officials to examine the quality of playing fields available to the Women’s State League and Men’s State League competitions.
“We, as a club, promote strength, health, teamwork and empowerment through sport to all of our members and our community. ANUWFC has benefited hugely from being a women’s only club, where we can stand for our rights in community sport, and we continue to grow each year.”
