The first season of Capital Football’s Walking Football came to an end on Wednesday night at Hawker Football Centre.
After starting out with a come and try evening at Hawker late in 2018, the inaugural Walking Football tournament ended up with 49 participants across six teams who played in a social competition every Wednesday at Hawker.
The six teams were:
- Walk don’t Run
- The Creakers
- Shufflers
- Strutildas
- Running not permitted
- Snappers
Capital Football’s Head of Participation Glenn Armstrong said the growth of the group was a big positive and a sign that more people were looking for different avenues into football.
“It was good to see everyone enjoy the inaugural tournament and the concept has gained a lot of popularity,” he said.
“We are keen to see it evolve and we can see Walking Football growing into a mainstream competition in its own right.”
