O’Connor Knights 2 (Brandon Hawker 14’, Kynan Dodd 21’) def. by Boomerangs FS White 5 (Nicholas van Aalst 11’, Bailey Sorenson 16’, 28’, William Manalo 27’, Jayde James-Ward 30’)
A consistent performance from Boomerangs White saw them ease to a 5-2 win over O’Connor Knights in round nine of the Men’s Futsal Premier League competition.
Boomerangs came out strong early and after denying a Knights chance as the last line of defense, Nick Van Aalst chipped his opposing number from the far end of the court to give his side the lead 11 minutes in.
It took just three minutes for O’Connor to level things up though as Brandon Hawker scored, but two minutes later Bailey Sorensen sent a screamer in to the top corner to ensure Boomerangs were on top at the half-time break.
Knights began the second half strongly against the substitute-less Boomerangs, as Kynan Dodd made it 2-2 just a minute in to the period but they could not go on with the effort as Boomerangs took over control.
William Manalo put his side back ahead with 13 minutes to play and just a minute later Sorensen scored his second to double the lead.
Boomerangs continued to push and Jayde James-Ward netted the fifth after some nice play from Eli Darwich to set up the goal that wrapped up the game.
NCU Navy 1 (Richard Moon 11’) def. by NCU Red 2 (Michael Knee 9’, Benjamin Rolfe 21’)
NCU Red prevailed in the round nine NCU derby with a 2-1 win over NCU Navy thanks to a goal in either half.
Red took an early lead inside the opening 10 minutes through Michael Knee but it lasted only two minutes to when Richard Moon tied the score back up for Navy. The game was an end to end affair but defense was winning out with chances few and far between as the two teams entered the break locked at a goal each.
It took only a minute of the second half for Red to score what would eventually be the winner as Ben Rolfe fired home shortly after the break.
The second half finished in similar fashion to the first, with neither side able to carve out any real openings against some dogged defending and leaving Red with a one-goal win.
