Boomerangs FS White 2 (William Manalo 34’ Ahmed Ugool 41’) def. by NCU Red 5 (Brant Taylor 14′, 28’, Elijah Chacos 20′, 28’, Benjamin Rolfe 28’)
The match-up between Boomerangs White and NCU Red was a bottom of the table clash, with NCU Red claiming the 5-2 win to see them jump up the ladder.
Boomerangs White looked the better team earlier on in the piece, before NCU found their dominance and picked up their performance.
After a tightly contested opening the first goal came in the 14th from NCU Red’s Brant Taylor and the second goal in the 20th from Elijah Chacos.
Early on in the second half both teams had a number of chances but neither were able to convert their shots. Then in the 28th minute it was raining goals for NCU Red, with Elijah Chacos, Brant Taylor and Benjamin Rolfe all scoring to balloon NCU’s lead to four goals
Boomerangs White were not deterred and managed to put the final two goals in the back of the net as William Manalo and Ahmed Ugool scored in the closing minutes.
Timberwolves FC 3 (Michael Nolan 7’, Thomas Zeitlhofer 18′, Diego Albornos Olaya 31’) def. by Prawns 6 (Patrick Ross-Magee 1’, Trent Flanigan 15’, 20’, Jeremy Habtemariam 16’, 33’, Stephen Domenici 24’)
This round saw a top of the table clash between Timberwolves and Prawns and it was a well contested clash to try and claim top spot.
Patrick Ross-Magee opened the scoring in the first minute of the game to give the Prawns a one-goal lead but Timberwolves levelled with a goal from Michael Nolan just six minutes later.
Prawns stepped it up a gear with a dominant end to the first half with Trent Flannigan scoring in the 15th and 20th minutes as well as Jeremy Habtemariam scoring in the 16th. Timberwolves still had a glimmer of hope with Thomas Zeitlhofer scoring their 2nd goal of the night but that the Prawns took a 4-2 lead at half time.
The first 10 minutes of the second half saw a highly even contest with both teams having their opportunities to score but only Stephen Domenici was successful in the 24th taking the Prawns lead to 3 goals.
Timberwolves still kept trying to claw back the lead with Diego Albornos Olaya scoring in the 31st and Jeremy Habtemariam scored the final goal for the match in the 33rd to restore the Prawns lead.
Prawns’ dominant performance helped them retain their lead on top of the table after six rounds of action.
O’Connor Knights 2 (Kynan Dodd 3′, Dorian Esposito 35’) def. Boomberangs FS 1 (Nicholas Rathjen 31′)
After a slow start by both teams Kynan Dodd scores the opening goal for O’Connor in the 3rd and after the goal both teams started to pick up the pace and the chances started flowing for both teams.
There were chances at both ends in the first half but both keepers did well to keep their opponents out. Dodd’s goal was the only one in the first half, giving O’Connor a one-goal lead at half time.
Boomerangs came out strong in the second half and showed a dominant performance but were unable to capitalise, striking the frame of goal on a couple of occasions.
They did score though as Nick Rathjen fired home with nine minutes remaining to tie the game, but parity only lasted for four minutes as Dorian Esposito scored with five minutes to play.
Boomerangs Fhad the last chance of the match to tie it up, but a brilliant save from Keegan Jackson sealed the result for O’Connor.
With the win, O’Connor Knights moved past Timberwolves and into 2nd spot on the ladder heading into Round 7 ahead of a top of the table clash with Prawns.
