A double-header of National Premier League Football is the highlight as the Monaro Panthers celebrate the Official opening of the revamped Riverside Stadium on Saturday 27 April.
The Hon John Barilaro, Deputy Premier | Leader of the NSW Nationals Member for Monaro and Cr Tim Overall (Mayor) Queanbeyan Palerang Regional Council, will perform the official Opening Ceremony honours in between the two fixtures scheduled for the day.
The Women’s NPL clash between the Panthers and Canberra United Academy will start proceedings at 4.30pm with the men taking centre-stage at 7pm when the home side welcome last years treble winners Canberra FC.
“As a well established Community Football club, serving over 1000 players, their families and the broader Queanbeyan and Palerang region, the Monaro Panthers are aware of the changing needs of the sporting community,” club vice president Geoff Young commented.
“We are committed to growing and adapting our club facilities to meet emerging needs. The stadium and surface upgrade will allow us to provide comprehensive access to high quality sporting services to all demographics and including elite women and men’s players, seniors and special needs communities.
“The recent works complement the installation of new flood lights which was also funded by NSW government and the QPRC (Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council).
“Riverside Stadium is our spiritual home and is strategically vital to making Monaro Panthers once again a force in football.”
Thanks to the upgrade funded by the NSW Government and implemented by the QPRC, Riverside will be a showcase for the region.
