Capital Football can announce details of the Inaugural Diplomatic Corps Cup to take place in Canberra in the coming months.
Featuring teams from embassies and high commissions across Canberra, 14 teams will be split into two groups to compete across the nine-week tournament.
The tournament will kick-off on Tuesday 1st May at Hawker Football Centre, where matches will take place every week.
20 countries are represented in the 14 teams taking part in the tournament, and the competition will overlap into the 2018 FIFA World Cup, helping to promote interest in Football’s showpiece tournament, and in the World Cup too.
Capital Football Head of Participation Glenn Armstrong said the tournament is a great way to expand the reach of Football and create a fun but competitive environment for embassy and diplomatic staff.
“We’re looking forward to the tournament,” he said.
“It’s a great initiative to bring communities together to participate in the world game and be a warm-up ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.”
