Twenty-three Grand Final Champions were crowned on the weekend, as the Senior League season drew to a close.
Kambah 2 was the venue on Saturday as the 22 Grand-Finalists from the Capital League Open competitions battled it out for ultimate glory.
Thirty-three goals were scored across the day, with four matches needing penalties to decide the winner.
ANU Football Club took out the Club Championship award, with their teams featuring heavily in the finals series, winning Capital League Open – Division 10 Blue, Capital League Open – Division 3, Capital League Open – Division 2 and Capital League Open – Division 1 on Saturday afternoon.
There were three more trophies for the University teams on Sunday, as they picked up the silverware in Capital League Women – Division 5, Capital Trophies Masters League Men Over-35 Division 2, and the Capital Trophies Masters League Men Over-45.
Those successful ANU teams were part of the hundreds of players from Capital League Women and Capital Trophies Masters League who descended on Kambah 3 on the Sunday, with 24 teams going head-to-head across the day.
Thirty goals were scored with only the one penalty shootout, as South Canberra held their nerve to win the clubs first ever silverware in a dramatic 3-2 win on spot-kicks over the UC Stars.
Capital Football congratulates all the winners, and the associated Player of the Match Award Winners, on a tremendous year of football.
