The 2023 Capital Football Annual General Meeting (AGM), the 62nd AGM, took place at the Hellenic Club in Woden on Thursday 30 May 2024, where the minutes from the 2022 AGM were passed, the audited statements for 2023 were accepted, and the Board elected.
There were two positions available on the Capital Football Board for the forthcoming term which were taken by Frank Cachia, extending his term, and Steve Rohan-Jones, elected unopposed following the withdrawal of a third nominee.
Frank is well known around Canberra as both a commentator on NPL matches and arguably Canberra’s most successful senior coach in the past decade, whilst Rohan-Jones has been involved with West Canberra Wanderers FC for their entire existence as founder, a Board Member, President, and now National Premier League First Grade Head Coach.
Fran Sankey is retiring from the Capital Football Board, after ten years of service to the Football Community on the Board as both a Director and Chair.
Fran has been involved in football in the ACT for over 30 years as a player, club coach, and various administrator, and volunteer roles including serving on the Board to which she was elected in 2013.
During this time Fran has made a significant contribution to the Canberra football community and Capital Football thanks Fran for her unwavering dedication to the improvement of football in Canberra and the surrounding region.
“Fran has been an integral part of football in Canberra and has dedicated much of her life to the game,” Capital Football Chair, Angelo Konstantinou, commented.
“She is not lost to the game, and she now sits on the Football Australia Women’s Council. On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Fran and wish her all the best for whatever the future holds.”
The Board composition which includes both Frank Cachia and Steve Rohan-Jones, will also feature Sarah Baker-Goldsmith, Libby Hovasapian, Angelo Konstantinou, Andrew MacFarlane, Gary Vandeburgt, and Kim Ward.
