The Central Coast Mariners will head to Canberra on Wednesday 24 August to meet the Capital All-Stars at Deakin Stadium in a prestigious friendly.
This will be the sixteenth time that the Mariners have played a match in Canberra having previously been in the National Capital for a brace of A-League matches, an A-League Pre-Season Challenge Cup match, and a plethora of friendly fixtures.
Their most recent visit was the 5-0 defeat of Monaro Panthers in a behind-closed-doors friendly match on 20 July at the Riverside Stadium in Queanbeyan.
“We are delighted to welcome the Central Coast Mariners to Canberra once more and look forward to hosting them for this friendly match.” Capital Football Technical Director Phil Booth commented.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for the Canberra football community to come and see the A-League side in action, and also for some of our local talent to showcase their abilities in front of A-League opposition.”
The Capital All-Star team will be coached by Assistant Technical Director Ali Efe, assisted by Monaro Panthers Assistant Coach, Ian Worthington, Tigers FC Assistant Coach, Antoni Jagarinec and Gungahlin United Assistant Coach, Chris Caggiano.
Pre-eminent Goalkeeper Coach Tim Davies is also part of the coaching set-up.
Details on the compilation of the squad, which has been selected in collaboration and consultation with all Capital Football National Premier League Head Coaches, will be released shortly.
