The Canberra United Powerchair team has been working hard on improving their skills at a two-day camp delivered by the Sydney FC Foundation at the Australian Institute of Sport earlier this week.
Jason and Josh Ryan from Sydney FC Foundation delivered an intensive style camp for Canberra United Powerchair athletes to fine tune their skills working on Skill Development, Structure, and Positioning, through a host of fun activities leaving the participants with happy faces and an extended skill-set.
“We want to thank Jason and Josh from the Sydney FC Foundation crew for what was an awesome couple of days at the AIS,” Mark Barnes, Head of Participation, Game Development & Infrastructure commented.
“It was a brilliant program, and we are hugely thankful for the Sydney FC Foundation for delivering a fun and engaging training camp for our athletes. The team are looking forward to showing off what they have learned, and showing how much they have improved, at the Club Championships in May.”
As well as the Sydney FC Foundation, Capital Football and Canberra United Powerchair would like to thank their major sponsors Capital Region Muscular Dystrophy, Rotary Club of Aurora Gungahlin Canberra, and Local Peoples for their much appreciated support of this amazing program.
The Australian Powerchair Football Club Championships takes place each year, bringing together the best powerchair footballers from across Australia and New Zealand. Canberra United entered for the first time last year and are excited to be heading back for another shot at the title in 2023.
Newcastle Jets won the 2022 APFA Club Championship defeating Hills United 1-0 to claim their second consecutive Club Championship title and third overall.
