Canberra FC 3 (Field, Ryan, Berkeley) defeat North Canberra Untouchables 0
Canberra FC claimed Capital Football’s 2019/20 Women’s Futsal Premier League title in their first-ever appearance in the Grand Final, defeating North Canberra Untouchables 3-0 at AIS Training Halls.
The match-up between 1st and 2nd of the competition was dominated by Canberra FC from start to finish, consigning North Canberra Untouchables to their second Grand Final loss in the last two years.
The first chance on goal was seven minutes in the making but Canberra FC took their opportunity with aplomb. A great team move saw Grace Field on goal, whose left-foot shot found the bottom corner past Untouchables keeper Natalie Lacey.
A great penalty save from Natasja Vasta ensured Canberra FC kept their lead, stopping Katherine Thurber’s strike from the spot.
Canberra FC doubled their lead thanks Vanessa Ryan who stole the ball on the halfway line, leaving her one-on-one with the keeper. Her shot squeezed under Lacey, giving Canberra FC a deserved 2-0 lead at the break.
FC continued their dominance in the second half and extended their lead through Jamie Berkeley after a great through ball found her one-on-one with the keeper.
Canberra FC’s Natasja Vasta ensured her side kept a clean sheet, pulling off two terrific saves late in the match as Lady Reds claimed their first-ever Women’s Futsal Premier League title.
Grace Field was adjudged best on-field after a terrific Grand Final performance.
