The Capital Football Talented Sports Program (TSP) Girls teams enjoyed an excellent trip to Valentine Sports Park in Sydney last week finishing second in their group in both the U14 and U16 levels.
The U14 team won two of their four matches, defeating both TSP East and the Central Coast Mariners, drew with TSP North and were narrowly defeated by the TSP far South selection in a quartet of high-quality matches.
“This was a very worthwhile exercise for us in terms of exposing our players to this level of football and tournament conditions,” Capital Football Coach Education Development Manager, and U16 Coach, Ali Efe commented.
“Our players acquitted themselves very well across the day, showing good technique and skills, and being very much involved in every game they played. We are looking forward to continuing to develop this group and to taking part in further competitions.”
In the U16 competition the team won their opening three matches of the competition, seeing off their rivals from TSP East, TSP North, and Northern NSW before being edged out 1-0 by the Emerging Jets Red in a tight encounter.
Kaitlyn Colwill, who has impressed for West Canberra Wanderers in her maiden season of national Premier League first grade football, netted five goals in three matches whilst Arusha Chew, who has likewise done the same in appearances for the high-flying Canberra Olympic in the Women’s NPL, scored twice.
