Referee Homelatest newsWelcome to the home of Capital Football Referees.
referee overviewWith over 17,000 players across Football and Futsal leagues with junior, men’s and women’s competitions there are many opportunities available to referee in Canberra and the surrounding region. Whether you want to make it all the way to World Cup or just referee at your local junior club on Saturday, the value you get for your registration fee is entirely up to you. Join around 420 other referees for a variety of educational and social events are open to referees free of charge, giving referees the chance to not only make new friends but develop their refereeing skills to go all the way to the World Cup. A range of long service rewards have also been instituted encourage referees to continue to referee. These initiatives along with the development of the Marsh Insurance Referee Academy has also helped to bridge the gap between refereeing senior and junior matches, a time when traditionally the highest number of referees do not reregister. The Academy also helps those young referees wanting to further develop their refereeing skills to reach higher levels of the game such as local Premier League or even onto the A-League or W-League. Canberra and the region has a strong history of producing world class referees with four current FIFA badge holders in Chris Colley (futsal), Allyson Flynn (assistant referee), Ben Williams (referee) and Ben Wilson (assistant referee) representing Capital Football around the world. It is hoped that members of the Referee Academy continue this tradition into the future and become the next crop of FIFA officials. |
