Owen Goldrick appointed to Hyundai A-League Grand Final Team

Capital Football would like to express congratulations to local elite referee Owen Goldrick on his appointment to this weekend’s Hyundai A-League Grand-Final between Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory.

Goldrick has been appointed for what will be his second ever Hyundai A-League finals appointment, following his taking part in last week's first semi-final.

“I’m pretty excited”, he said after the appointment, “and pretty happy to have worked my way into getting a finals appointment.”

Goldrick first began refereeing as a Junior in 2006, rising through the Capital Football refereeing ranks before making his way onto the A-League panel in the 2012/13 season, and it has only been up from there.

Goldrick is the fourth Capital Football elite referee to have been appointed to a finals match this season, and believes it is indicative of the pathway in Canberra.

“I think Canberra provides opportunities for young referees who have the ability and want to have a go at refereeing.”
