Men's FPL: Belconnen and Superprawns Lead the Way

Men’s Futsal Premier League
Round 3

Belconnen United maintained their 100% record in the Men’s Futsal Premier League with a 3-2 win over Boomerangs FS Youth at the AIS Training Halls. The Blue Devils were made to work for the points though by a stubborn Boomerangs team who hung in the match throughout. A physical match saw Boomerangs take the lead through Jayde James-Ward but the same player levelled matters with an own goal minutes later.

There was no further score until the second stanza when Belconnen went in front thanks to Jack Green. A fourth goal of the season for Taylor Beaton gave them some breathing space but an own goal by Cameron Reinhart meant that Belconnen was clinging on at the end of the game to take the win.

Canberra Olympic Superprawns remains on top of the ladder on goal difference after sweeping aside the challenge of NC Untouchables Red with a 4-1 success. An even start saw Robbie Cattanach give the Superprawns the lead only for Michael Knee to level for NC Untouchables Red. In the second half the champions upped the tempo and two goals from Stephen Domenici, allied to another from Cattanach, saw them home.

Boomerangs FS Blue moved into third place on the ladder as they crushed Boomerangs FS White 5-0. Michael Rinaudo led the way for Boomerangs FS Blue with a hat-trick as the Blues ran away with the game in the second half after holding a narrow 1-0 lead at the interval. Daniel Giovinazzo and Lachlan Riddell added to Rinaudo’s treble as the Blues romped home strongly.

NC Untouchables Navy claimed a second win of the season as they defeated Woden-Weston Timberwolves 3-1. Richard Moon gave NC Untouchables Navy the early lead before a free-kick from Aidan Brown doubled their advantage at the break. Thiago Del Carvalho pulled a goal back for the Timberwolves early in the second half, but a third NC Untouchables Navy goal from Ryan De Vries settled the contest.
