Goulburn Stags Annual Fundraiser and Ball

Goulburn Stags are hosting the Club’s annual cancer Fundraising day/night this weekend on Saturday 6th August. Each year the club, both Capital Football and NSW, hold a gala day to raise money for cancer Charities

Over the the past seven years they’ve raised over $72,000 for Cancer Council NSW. This year the club is splitting our efforts between Prostate foundation of Australia and Can Assist Goulburn, a rural charity that help people cover costs to make sure they receive the same level of care as city patients.

Each year players purchase a custom designed shirt to which they add their own nickname and number too, the club then sell sponsorship to raise money. Throughout the day the club run raffles and sell Donated items as well.

There are three trophies on offer throughout the day:

In U15 Goulburn Stags play MBK for the Bradley Chisholm Cup. Brad was a former MBK player how took his own life due to mental illness. His brother plays for Stags U15. This is to highlight metal health in teenagers and that it is OK to talk or ask for help as a young person. In our local senior grades the teams play for the “Call to Arms Cup”.  This match is against local club Soldiers FC. This year, for the first time, there will be a match played in the women division.

The final trophy started last year and is known as the Phil Patton Shield. Phil was a major sponsor of the club in its early years. Unfortunately Phil lost his battle with Cancer early last year.
The shield is a point’s score between Stags and any STFA club they play on the day. These games along with the local Derby between Stags and Strikers will make for a great day of Football.

Later that night we will be hosting a “ball” at the Goulburn Workers Club, with an auction, two course meal and live music. All are welcome to attend.
